Sunrise - Silent Film Task

Silent Film Practical:

Brief Plan-

Before going out to shoot for our short film, I briefly drafted out some potential ideas as we only had 2 hours, wanting to maximise all the time we had. To ensure we had enough footage and time to edit the footage too.

The concept we set on was of a character going to the library to pick out a book to read but is mysteriously taunted by a shadow, which chases them to eventually to be killed.

We picked out to film in the library as we felt like it was quite tucked away from all the other people working in there, but also it was already had quite low key lighting; making it easier to control the light sources we were using form our phone flash lights. To better the controlled light used, we were able to ask for the lights to be switch off in the area we were filming, which worked well in the process of our film making.

Evaluation-

What went well?

After creating the film, I felt that the group I worked with were efficient and we all helped and contributed to the progression of creating the final video considered the time given to complete the task. With the editing techniques, I used iMovie and applied a vignette and used the exposure bar on all the clips to add authenticity to the overall aesthetic of the film.

What could be improved?

We had some issues editing within the lesson as me and my group weren’t that familiar with PremierPro which took up some time but I went out of my own time to use different software. Just planning more in-depth would of helped us use our time better, however only in 2 hours we did our best within the time frame.
