Time plan and criteria Establishing the time plan for the coursework. This helps keep me on track with deadlines and I also have a wider view on the tasks set in the future.  To gather initial ideas from watching the listed films for my coursework, I really wanted to develop my film on silent cinema. I love the visual and technical features of the movement and to recreate these elements within my own film, I think would be really effective.  The best feature, in my opinion, with silent film is the lack of dialogue. I feel as sometimes to write speech between characters can feel quite robotic. It is very common for the flow of dialogue to not work. As I don't have a high budget for the production of the film, I'm not working with talented actors; instead I'm just using my friends to shoot with. Back to the Start  Evaluation: What Went Well? The final outcome I felt turned out well considering the struggle for ideas at the very beginning of the task. Originally my group were going to use Tyler's predicted text message of using technology as a focus point. We all had our minds set on carrying out that idea but I though of Wong Kar-Wai and how he focuses on the concept of time; I though that the time theme would be easy to identify.  While editing, I used a filter over all my footage, which enhanced the colours to attempt to show the bold visuals similarly to Wong Kar-Wai's auteur style. I also used a song in reverse to compliment and reflect clearly to the theme of the film.  Within the narrative of "Back to the Start" I wanted to show a day from two people who; showing a rural and urban environment. I managed to successfully achieve this by using the time lapse video clips from two surroundings and using the shot reverse shot technique

Silent Film Practical: Brief Plan- Before going out to shoot for our short film, I briefly drafted out some potential ideas as we only had 2 hours, wanting to maximise all the time we had. To ensure we had enough footage and time to edit the footage too.   The concept we set on was of a character going to the library to pick out a book to read but is mysteriously taunted by a shadow, which chases them to eventually to be killed.  We picked out to film in the library as we felt like it was quite tucked away from all the other people working in there, but also it was already had quite low key lighting; making it easier to control the light sources we were using form our phone flash lights. Analysis of Rocket from the 'City Of God' Following Rocket, in the 'City Of God', we see visually the story of how the slums of Rio de Janeiro develop and are impacted by the fear and violence of gangs.  At the beginning of the film, the sound is a mixture between diegetic and non diegetic. The environment of the city and a voiceover of Rocket talking about the setting adding extra information and exploiting issues within the City of God. "We came to the City of God hoping to find paradise."  Within this sequence of the film, the time period is set during the 60s. The drug choice at the time was cannabis.
